Brave New Spring

I took a quick trip to LA and saw my family! So great hang with my hermana Jessica R and see my Mom. It really has been too long. And to see our furry and scalely old friends!
Mingus : AKA Mingy Pingee!Jaco the insane Russell!
My old fish, Fifi and Jacques
Just wish I could have brought my furry little friend along as well. Just a little too crazy though. He looks so handsome in his new green handkerchief, huh?
Air travel these days is quite interesting. Why do I always find myself looking at the gross things (people) around me.... like this...
How can people let themselves get like this? I will never understand it. This man looked like he was 12 months pregnant. No joke.
This is the Western Colorado as seem through my plane window.... Kind of cool.
It is finally REALLY spring here in Aspen. We had so many early spring storms that some thought that they would re-open the mountain for skiing, but they haven't yet.
We still have hope because it keeps raining, which means that it is snowing on top! We'll see.
And even better news... Jonathan is staying in the states for the spring summer this year! It has been four years for him following the winter to New Zealand to teach skiing. However, with a last minute job interview came a great opportunity in the wine world for him. He has been hired to be a beverage director for a restaurant development group who is opening a number of restaurants & clubs here this fall/winter. He still had his ticket to NZ (non-refundable), so he opted to go down under for a couple of weeks to do his examiner training so he can at least stay current with his teaching credentials in that country. He will return June 2o and start his new position sometime in July. I am so stoked not to spend another season here by myself. Wyatt is great and all, but it still gets lonely.
And another brave new move, I am seeking alternative employment as well. I have been speaking with an old friend from my traveling days with Jeannine at Flair, Max. He has a boutique here and contacted me a while ago about working for him. We are still negotiating, but it looks promising. And if that doesn't work out, I have a couple of lines on other stores looking for help. I am so ready to work with women's clothes again. I just so not have the passion for men's clothing.
Jonathan and I, I believe I have mentioned before, have entered into the employee housing lottery here in Aspen. Hopefully this will mean we can own a place of our own soon. We are so cramped in our little run down basement apartment and it would be exciting to have our own property! I have never done that before. Cross your fingers for us. We know people that had to wait, no joke, 9 years to win the lottery. That is a little on the extreme side because single bedroom units are in high demand. We have a better chance looking at 2 plus bedrooms.
Off to do more homework! Happy happy joy joy!
