I can't believe it, but Jonathan and I got to sneak in a little quick trip to London for a wedding early this month. This is unheard of in the middle of ski season, but SO MUCH FUN!!
We left Aspen at around 10am, drove to Denver. Boarded a plane for Heathrow at 5pm. Normal annoying flying over the pond experience. Bad food, bad flight attendant perfume, but the movies were good. I watched many in a row that I haven't had time to watch. Perfect way to kill the flight time. I was impressed by "The Social Network" and "Inception." I still have a lot of movie watching to catch up on.
After arriving in the am, we took the Tube into London. We dropped out bags at a left luggage and explored.

Jonathan skeptical of the "learner" motorcyclist in the foreground. I suppose the big red "L" is a warning for other drivers.

Me under the famous horse's ass. I think everyone who has visited London has this shot.

Jonathan having some bangers and mash in a pub that we sought refuge from the winds in. Gale force winds that took the words right out of your mouth. I felt I had London street dirt forced into my sinuses. Ewe. The pub was old as the City and had great beer.

We sat in on a rehearsal for the St. Augustine orchestra. I think that was the name. Hmmm...
I love the glass work in the windows. Why don't we make things like this anymore?
Then it was off to Cambridge. Taking the train was about an hour and we arrived after dark, along with those freakishly strong WINDS!!

We opted to take a cab to Pembroke College. We stayed in a dorm room and this was the view from our room. It was a hoot! I think the room is intended for visiting parents and such.

This is St John's College. The picture on the header of my blog is an illegal shot of the interior of St. John's chapel. This is where Jonathan's sister got married. So pretty!

The wedding was beautiful and very elegant. So nice to hang out with this particular bunch of folks. We took the train back to London and danced at Annabelle's until 2 in the morning. The champagne flowed and my feet hurt from dancing in heels all night. This is Jonathan in the cab on the way back to our hotel at I would say 3am, a little worse for wear.... or perhaps for champagne? It was time to catch a few hours sleep and hop back on a plane home in the morning. It was a fast trip, but I feel like it cured me of my claustrophobia.

Missed the pups. They were super happy we were back, but I think they got spoiled by our friend Will. Thanks for the help Will!
Aspen is home but it is small and I am finding it is so important to get out of town once in a while. I still love visiting cities and London is one I would like to get to know more of. Thanks everyone for such a great time. Can't wait to see you all again soon....
