Trip to Verbier Switzerland

As ridiculous as it may seem for an unemployed person to do, I am on a trip to Verbier. It is a business trip for Jonathan and he insisted that I come. I guess that is a perk of being unemployed, lots of free time, especially since I have opted to post pone the school endeavor due to financial limitations. I am not so happy that I will not be finishing my degree soon, but the state of our economy cannot be denied. I have to either find a less expensive school or quit. Seeing as there are few to none less expensive online options, I think the degree will have to wait. I really don't want to study court reporting or criminal investigation, know what I mean?
So, Verbier is a very steep little ski village. Both the town and the slopes are pretty steep. The first day of skiing I could hardly see 10 feet in front of me. A little nerve racking to say the least. The mountain is huge so it is easy to not know where you are. They also have those jumbo cable cars in the sky. Yes, these are the ones that you hear about airplanes severing cables and people plunging to their deaths. I try not to think about that when we are packed like sardines (they hold like 50 people) traveling to the other side of the valley. The first time I was standing so close to a family that smelled a lot like mildew. Was not so pleasant and I couldn't get the smell out of my nose for like an hour. Tip to skiers: WASH YOUR SKI CLOTHES AND OFTEN! Letting your boots dry out is wise as well. They can get pretty nasty after many days on snow.
So, we have traveled from Apsen to Taos New Mexico, by car with two dogs. Then from Taos to LA, by car with two dogs and then Jonathan and I flew to Geneva. We took a train to Martigny and a taxi to Verbier. Planes, trains, and automobiles anyone? I am just so indebted to my sister who is dealing with the ordeal of her two dogs and my two dogs in the same house. She was kind enough to dog sit, hence the car trip to LA. It was great to spend at least one evening with two of my sisters, Jessica and Marina. Hermanas rule!! Hopefully the dogs are not giving Jess too much grief anymore. They have been through a lot the last few weeks, a couple of long car trips, a strange (at least to them) kennel in Taos and now having to "blend" in with Jessica's dogs. I was hoping that would have gone a little easier.
They do get better and better the more we travel with them. Travel seems to calm their personalities in general. But we miss them so much and wish it was easier to travel abroad with them. Although, I am sure it would be such a nuisance to have all that white hair in this beautiful chalet. And the couch is this lovely charcoal grey wool felt. It would be so good for attracting both little bastards and their shedding coats.
So, since I have no job or school, I have vowed to get back into my blog (and yoga). This is my first attempt in quite a while and I took the morning to do some "blog maintenance." I changed colors and fonts and had a really nice afternoon not skiing. Sometimes you have to take a few days off.
I am off to town to find some appropriate gift for my sister for putting up with Wyatt and Lila. I have found the most amazing face cream here in the pharmacy and I think she might like it as well. We have both been trying to find an appropriate La Mer replacement since our employee discount days at Fred Segal. It is too expensive even with our former discount. I think I might have found one for a fraction of the price! Gotta love the Swiss pharmacies! Bonjour!
